Supervisors don’t just oversee the work.
They lead and nurture high performing teams.
Excellent supervisors are the key to any project success. Yet, most training does not adequately develop these core skills.
Ensuring supervisor competency is now also a requirement for all construction projects under the Building Safety Regime, so there is both a compliance and performance benefit to investing in your supervisors’ leadership skills.
Competency is defined as having the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours (SKEB) required to carry out the role.
Skills, knowledge and experience can be adequately covered in technical training, including the SSSTS and SMSTS requirements.
However, the behaviours part of competency development and management is a little more difficult to develop in a structured way.
